Teacher Workshop | Coastal Connections | for High School teachers

Calling all high school teachers from all subjects to join us at the Grand Bay NERR July 16-18th for our "Coastal Connections: Empowering Interdisciplinary Climate Resilience in Mississippi Classrooms" Teacher Workshop.

This project aims to aid Coastal Mississippi teachers in providing instruction on the local impacts of climate change on humans and the environment as well as investigate adaptation and mitigation strategies for these impacts in cross-curricular settings.

Educators from all subjects will be empowered to guide students through a Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) in which they use a Climate Resilience Audit to characterize the climate impacts to their school and develop an environmental action plan with students to address one or more of the impacts they have identified.

Participating teachers receive 1.8 CEUs for the workshop as well as $900 in stipends throughout the project. They will also receive up to $1,100 in project supplies as needed throughout the school year. Dorms are available upon request for the workshop at the NERR.
